Primary 7 are very lucky to have been accepted as part of the Champions in Schools scheme this year. The programme is designed to help us set SMART goals and to help us work towards achieving our goals.

We have a Champions in Schools coach assigned to us – a sportsperson who has achieved amazing things within their sport. Our coach is Alistair Galloway.

We did some research on our coach and found out the following information:
He prefers to be called Ally.
He plays Volleyball and has played for both Scotland and Team GB.
He has over 80 caps for Scotland.
We used this information to design and create information fact files about Alistair.

On the 10th of February, Alistair came to visit us here at Knightsridge. He talked to us about his life, how he got into Volleyball and his career. It was really interesting and we had lots of questions to ask!

We then went to the hall where Alistair taught us some basic Volleyball skills. We learned how to properly “volley” the ball to a partner. We definitely improved the more we practiced.

Alistair then told us about SMART goals. He explained that for a goal to be worthwhile, it should be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timed.

Since Alistair’s visit, we have been working on our SMART goals. Some are for things in school, some are sport related, some are to do with clubs we go to.
